We have arrived at Terminal “Finally”, Gate “Traveling”

When the world came to a halt in 2020, we all had a few things that were no longer part of our regular routine. Was travel part of that list? It was on the top of my list. Whether locally, nationally or internationally I longed for the exploration of new places or comfort of familiar topography.

If you fly often you most likely have the items that make your life easier and more comfortable for the 1 hr or transatlantic flight for work, family or fun. Tell me in comments what you can’t live without. Over the years my travel staples for bags and clothes etc have evolved and depend on travel purpose.

Top 4 Travel Tips:

  1. Stay Hydrated
    • get your H20 before, during and post travel
  2. Good Quality Luggage
    • look for good warranty and return policy
    • search for outlets for big name brands such as Tumi and Samsonite (google for a location near you)
    • add bold, bright and sturdy luggage tags
  3. Joggers
    • stretch, wicking, neutral solid color
    • black is most versatile so start with this color.
  4. Comfortable Walking Sneakers
    • broken in and comfortable, neutral color or pattern. This allows for flexibility in coordinating with other pieces.
    • I prefer to be prepared for “anything”….you never when you have to run to another Terminal or Gate.
    • look into low profile “no show” socks for that ‘not wearing any socks’ look without the foot sweat and blisters.

Did you know it is a Federal Offense if you…..

Walk out of the airport with a suitcase that does not belong or registered to you? Lemme tell you a story of when I bought a brand new piece of luggage and took on a trip to Vegas. Once I got to baggage claim I found one similar but not mine. We had a hunch the bag I had belonged to the person who had mine.

The AA attendant stated firmly over the phone to the man that he has committed a Federal Offense by leaving the airport with my bag and needed to return it within 6 hours or authorities will be notified. He finally returned, not without dishing out some passive aggressive comments to the agent and myself. The agent calmly reminded him the value of the two seconds it takes to read the luggage tags.

This is my WHY behind obnoxiously colorful and durable luggage tags with metal cables.

Ladies & Gents: What is the lesson here? Make your suitcase stand out even if it is jet black and read the luggage bags before you stroll outta of the airport!!

Don’t get rubbed the wrong way

Blisters on your feet are a major downer when traveling. Your feet will swell from being on your feet, flying snd consuming more salty snacks then we normally do all contribute.

From experience of working endless hours at Sales trade shows to training for half marathons, invest in a blister blocker stick, it applies like deodorant but it is for anywhere on your feet where the shoes could rub. If you start to feel a certain area that is aggravated then apply to reduce continued friction.

I apply before I put on my sock or I am not wearing any socks I still apply it to areas that are more prone to blisters such as the heels, outside edges of toes, top arch of foot and toes knuckles.

For those of you are run long distances or do road cycling you know what I’m talking about. I’ve linked a version below that I’ve used. Throw it in your backpack or purse not your check-in luggage for easy access.
