About

Marie and Mini Cooper 1989

Welcome, Bienvenido! I’m Marie, the passionate athlete, foodie, , wellness warrior, photographer, licensed interior designer, dog lover and creative soul behind Healthy Hill

I haven’t grown out of playing with my food. Creating delicious, nutritious meals that range from simple to complex plus capturing it on camera fills my creative cup. You may see a few appearances of my patient hubby, Stephen, because he is my ultimate taste tester!

Through frequent international travel as a child, I was instilled with a constant craving for new experiences, landscapes, flavors, as well as appreciation of design, art and fashion.

There is something for everyone from food, fitness, fashion, beauty, design, travel and everything in between!

This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, excited to hear from you! So as an amiga/friend I gotta tell ya, healthy is a good look for you! Loving this new journey for you!

Salud to Your Salud!  [translation] Cheers to Your Health!

XOXO,

Marie

About Fitness

From yoga to marathons and triathlons, seeking athletic challenges -even if they terrified me –have become a constant after college. Many moons ago while working as a Commercial Interior Designer I desperately searched for an affordable workout studio. I stumbled upon hot yoga, which I had never done before, aaaaand was hooked for life! Fast forward to 13 yrs later a dear friend lost her battle to cancer.  I felt the immense pull to take the plunge into becoming a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200 RYT). Regardless of being a teacher I will forever be a student soaking up all I can on anatomy, mobility, building strength and the power of your mind and breath.

About Food

How I ate became a focus when I pushed my body on a performance level for races. Once that season of my life tapered, I noticed changes. The immense dips in my moods, consistent fatigue (like clockwork- 3pm slump), brain fog, painful periods, and stomach pains couldn’t be ignored. Yet all my blood work came back “normal”. My only indulgence was….food. Even though I was eating “healthy” by the standards of America I kept thinking, “what if WHAT I am eating isn’t healthy for MY body”. After an extensive 60 day food elimination eating plan and food sensitivity testing my instinctive were right. This is why most of my recipes are predominately Paleo and Pegan (Paleo/Vegan) based.
