Description
Do you love fries? Because I sure do! Even “healthy” fries in the frozen section have processed ingredients and lately I’m wanting to stick to whole food options. These Paleo Air Fried Jicama Fries satisfy your salty craving for a starchy snack or side to your meal. Naturally gluten free, dairy free, soy free, grain free and vegan this recipe checks a lot of boxes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium raw jicama, peeled, cut into fries
- 1 tbsp avocado oil
- avocado oil spray
- 2 heavy pinches of Celtic Sea Salt
- heavy dash of ground tumeric
- heavy dash of smoked paprika
- heavy dash of onion powder
- heavy dash of garlic powder
- heavy dash of fresh ground pepper
Instructions
- Boil small pot of water, add jicama and boil for 15 minutes. Then drain and set jicama on paper towels, pat dry.
- Pre-heat air fryer. In a large bowl add dried jicama, avocado oil and seasonings. Toss to coat. Spray bottom of air fryer once pre-heat is complete. Place jicama in air fry basket, in a single layer. Set it to “fries” setting (typically 390 degrees) for 10 minutes, then flip and add another 2 minutes.
- Using thongs place fries in serving dish, season to taste. Serve warm and immediately with preferred dipping sauces.
Notes
- Can roast on a raised rack on a cookie sheet if you don’t have an air fryer. Bake at 400, bake for 15min then flip and bake for another 15min. Broil at end for a few minutes to crisp up (keep an eye on them-they will brown quick).
- If allergic to avocado oil you can substitute for coconut oil.
- We upgraded to a larger air fryer over the summer to the Ninja Foodi Indoor Grill & Air Fryer .
