Description

Apples are a year round staple yet it hits different when the temperature drops and leaves change color. This classic Fall dessert that can easily be served for breakfast. This Paleo Cinnamon Apple Crumble is made from simple real food based ingredients that allows the natural sweetness of the fruit shine and invite all cozy Fall feels right into your kitchen. The mix of nuts extends the nutritional reach.  It checks the boxes for being gluten free, dairy free, vegan, soy free, grain free, and Paleo friendly.


Ingredients

Filling:

  • 2 organic granny smith apples, cored & diced
  • 1 pink lady or apple crisp apple, cord & diced
  • 2 tbsp Eden Foods Apple Butter
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 fresh lemon juice

Crumble:

  • organic almond flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of Celtic Sea Salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted pecans, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 2 pitted medjool dates, finely diced
  • 3 tbsp melted virgin coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • *optional- additional maple syrup for serving if not on super strict low sugar lifestyle

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Combine all crumble ingredients on a medium bowl until small clumps begin to form, set aside.
  2. In separate bowl mix lemon juice with diced apple. Mix in remaining filling ingredients until fully integrated. Place apple filling mix into baking dish.
  3. Layer crumble topping generously on top, cover the entire baking dish. Place in oven for 10 minutes, check and if topping isn’t toasted add another 5 minutes until nice and golden.
  4. Serve warm, add extra drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes

  • Leave skin on apples (contains up to 312% more vitamin K, 70% more vitamin A, 35% more calcum and potassium, and 30% more vitamin C then a peeled apples)
  • Apples are high in soluble fiber that can help slow the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream and may improve blood sugar levels. Regularly consuming soluble fiber can help reduce insulin resistance.
  • Bake in either single serve ramekins or one large dish
  • Buy organic fruits and nuts whenever possible

  • For breakfast garnish with scoop of protein rich grass fed unflavored yogurt or non-dairy yogurt.
  • For dessert garnish with fresh made coconut whip cream and your ice cream (dairy or non-dairy) of choice.
